Dear Cuyahoga Falls Boys Soccer Alumni:

I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank you all for your support of our program.   Your generous donation covered the pay-to-play fee for every player this season.  We are truly fortunate to have such a quality Alumni Association supporting our efforts.  In the following paragraphs I would like to, recap our 2009-2010 season and give you a sneak peak of the coming season.

The 2009-2010 season was a struggle for our very young team.  Our starting line-up consisted of mainly sophomores and juniors.   Although we did not win very many games, we gained valuable experience which should aid our efforts this coming season.   We knew that last season would be difficult given our level of experience and considering the strength of our schedule.  I feel we were competitive and with the exception of a few games we played well enough to win.  Seven of our games were decided by one goal; when the quality of teams we faced and the margin of victory/defeat is considered, I feel the boys performed very well.  Injuries once again affected our line-up throughout the season, making it difficult to maintain consistency.   The defense was particularly hard hit by injury this year sidelining senior Steve Babcock, junior Neal Farmer, and sophomore Frank Ziccardi.  Although our defense was somewhat depleted, others stepped up to the challenge and worked hard to keep the games close and give us a chance to win.   All players contributed and gained valuable experience playing at the varsity level.

We are all looking forward to the coming season.   I feel the experience gained by the younger players last season will give us an advantage.  We return 10 starters for the 2010-2011 season, and our bench will be stocked with players who have played a significant number of varsity minutes.  Our senior class will consist of seven quality, experienced players who we will lead the team.  There will be eight hard working juniors pushing the seniors to perform at the highest level, and some talented sophomores and maybe a freshman or two gaining valuable experience. We look forward to competing in the Northeastern Ohio Conference (NOC) River division again with Brunswick, Brush, Lakewood, Mayfield, and North Royalton.   We will begin the season with a long series of home matches, please come out and support the team.  The Alumni vs. Varsity game is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 7:00 pm, I look forward to seeing you all there.
