Coach Gregory Lamey is entering his third year as the JV Boys Coach for the Cuyahoga Falls Soccer Team. He brings a wealth of experience with him. Coach Lamey is from Jamaica, and spent most of his time back home running, conditioning, and playing soccer at the community level. Coach Lamey has coached with the Cuyahoga Falls Soccer Club where one of his teams went undefeated in the fall of 2001 and another was undefeated in 2003.
Coach Lamey is involved with U-12 –U-13 boys teams that play in the Akron Indoor League. Coach Lamey is employed at First Merit Bank where he is a Computer Sorter Operator. There he helps end day for the bank. He lives in Cuyahoga Falls with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter Jasmine Lida, Jazzy for short because she is such a jazz. They are sure she will be a Soccer Star, perhaps the next great American female soccer player in the mold of Mia Hamm or Brandy Chastain.
Coach Lamey stresses the importance of education. Coach Lamey believes that, “You need to set goals and work to achieve them, both on and off the field. One thing we must all remember is that life is a journey and every journey begins with one small step, no matter how small.”
What you put into something is what you are going to get out of any given situation; if you put in 20% don’t expect to get 100% out at the end of the day. “No pain, no gain” and “Work hard, play easy” are Coach Lamey’s motto’s.
