Coach Patrick Dobbins is entering his first year as head coach for the Cuyahoga Falls High School soccer team. Coach Dobbins played prep soccer at Archbishop Hoban High School where he received many awards for his play, including First Team All-State honors in 1987. He then attended Walsh University on an academic and athletic scholarship where he played collegiate soccer for the Cavaliers as a four year starter, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.
In 1991 Coach Dobbins accepted a position as Assistant Coach for the Walsh University Women’s Soccer Team. He has been employed by the Summit County Engineer’s Office for the past sixteen years and presently holds the position of Human Resource Manager. Coach Dobbins moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1997 after marrying his wife Kathy (Meacham) Dobbins, a lifelong Cuyahoga Falls resident. Patrick and Kathy have four children; Maggie (14), Alex (12), Ashley (8), and Emily (6), all of whom currently attend Cuyahoga Falls City Schools and play soccer. In 2002 Coach Dobbins received the honor of being inducted to the Archbishop Hoban High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sport of soccer.
Prior to becoming head coach here at Cuyahoga Falls, he was a volunteer assistant for the Black Tigers, coached the Cuyahoga Falls Boys Middle School soccer team and has participated at the youth level for the past ten years with the Cuyahoga Falls Soccer Club, where he coached boys and girls teams of all age groups.
Coach Dobbins emphasizes the importance of succeeding in the classroom as well as on the field of play. “Education must always come first. Along with developing as a soccer player, it is equally important that players develop as students. It is crucial that student athletes learn to make good decisions on and off the field.” Coach Dobbins looks forward to the season. “Although we have a young team, we are returning eleven players with substantial varsity experience. I feel we will be very competitive.”
